Class description

Tuesdays 10:45-11:30 Ideal for those who are curious about Pilates, or have never experienced a Pilates class before. Or those who have a preference for a gentle, slower paced class. It is essential your introduction to Pilates is nothing but a positive experience, taught correctly and professionally, respecting the teachings of the Pilates method. What to expect from my beginners class. Over the period of 10 classes, I will take you through the necessary basics of Pilates and introduce you to the fundamentals of the method in simple steps. You will learn the following: *Breath work *Understanding neutral spine *Correct posture *Balance *Engaging the core, pelvic floor and specific muscles *Moving consciously with greater control and body awareness *Integrating the breath with simple movement patterns and it's relationship with mind- body connection. Combining standing, kneeling, side lying, supine and front laying exercises. Working towards popular anatomical objectives such as spine health, core strength, muscle tone, hip and lower back stability, balance, posture and joint mobility. I offer hands on individual tactile guidance to increase awareness of your body position. Classes include small equipment to enhance your class experience. Props such as soft balls, blocks, resistant bands and light hand weights are used to align, support and challenge you. After 10 classes, you will move through controlled stretches, flow through gentle simple sequences, hold basic poses and postures and learn how to improve balance. Not only will you gain knowledge and a deeper understanding of the Pilates method, you will come away feeling stronger, flexible, balanced, rejuvenated and a deeper sense of wellbeing.
